Artist's Description

I sing of the golden years long gone,
of walks by the beach, collecting little sea shells,
each perfect in their own special way,
once the homes of tiny ocean-dwelling creatures,
now long grown and long forgotten.

I sing of an ethereality,
of crunching through bright autumn leaves, picking apples
and munching on the crisp and juicy fruit, of
collecting the scarlet leaves from the old deciduous trees
preparing to face another blustery winter.

I sing of an innocence never to be retrieved,
of running through the snow, constructing a whole new world
before the sun melts it all away, of little footprints left
in the blanket of white by the little girl who believed
that her creatures of snow would come alive to play.

I sing of childhood fun and games,
of strolling through the park, flying homemade kites,
created by the little girl who believed
she would be carried away by the wind
to soar through the clouds with the eagles.

I sing of sweet youthful dreams,
of chatting on starry nights, while capturing fireflies
and then setting them free, of confiding to my mother my
own unrealistic aspirations and childish longings, of
falling asleep under a blanket of starts to her soothing lullaby.

I sing of another time and place,
of another eternity, when life was simple and
dreams were sweet, of the days and years long gone,
now merely echoes of my childhood dreams.
