Artist's Description

a bird hit my front window during a photoshoot i was having in my backyard and my mom and dad told me to do something with her.
when we found her she was on her back and her neck was twisted and her legs were all bent in. we thought for sure he broke her neck. She wasn’t moving and so i scooped her up on the newspaper, carried her into the backyard, set her down on the sheet and we [me and katie – the model] tried to help her. Katie brought her bread, but she wouldn’t eat it. I grabbed some bird food from the bird feeders in my yard but she wouldn’t eat that either.
I flipped her over on her tummy and she sat like that. Everytime i would walk around to find food or something, her head would follow me..and she kept staring at me…. it’s like she didn’t want me to go away from her… it was so sad.
But then while Katie was softly brushing her finger on the little bird, she flew into a nearby pine tree. I’m pretty sure she broke her one leg though because it was curled under her the whole time.
We named her Little Miss Sunshine…not only because of her colour, but she was a delight to have at the photoshoot.
She marked her territory though..and left a big squirty dumpling on the newspaper lol.
