Complete Freedom

Now I rise with my hand over my chest
Over my heart, to the flag I look
Noticing the stripes
Noticing the stars
Thinking about those who we’ve lost
That allow me to be free
Paying my respects to Malcom X and Martin Luther King
Huey P. Newton fist pumped in the air
See these people along with others
Allow us to be free to walk these streets
Recognized as citizens not negro’s or coloreds
See we free but not completely
That’s why I need complete liberty
Not for just me
But for you and me
I hate the fact I got 2 strikes
Cause of the color on my back
A shirt I proudly ware
Even though life isn’t as fair
As it is for those who skin is fare
Give me liberty or give me death
I would gladly die
For my people
For my kind
I would die just to see us rise
Give me Liberty
I need complete Liberty
Until then I could never be free

How does it feel to approach the plate with two set strikes? How does it feel to be interviewed and know you will not get it? How does it feel to be told you are free, but yet that truly will never exist?
