Next Full Moon

All’s he ever wanted was
A hand on his shoulder while he was writing
About his love for her.
She made it feel like his life was everlasting
Because her vision of him was always so kind

All’s he ever wanted was
A smile from her
As he walked into the space she occupied
She felt such a joy he knew
But sometimes could not figure out why.

One day he asked her:
“Why do you love me so much?”

She said:
I plan on loving you everyday.
When I get up I shower with a vision of
Our love wrapped tight around us
and I don’t miss a day.

She went on…

“Our love is ours, and ours to give freely
So why not love you darling?
I love my life,
When you are not here, I love anyway
Everything I choose to;
when I see you walk into my world
You feel like a gift every time”

He liked that he was just a little bit more to her
Than their dog Alice who he knew she loved desperately
Or her friend Midggie whom she talked to endlessly
Or even the fired egg sandwich on rye she savored at
Langlys Coffee House

He felt a love like this
could just be something
worth cultivating and promoting in his
own heart everyday;

“Don’t forget”
he said to himself,

“Sometimes she likes wild flowers at midnight”

Smiling like a man who found out a true secret

He marked that down in his calendar
