Artist's Description

In November 2007 London St Pancras International was reopened following a multi milliom pound redevelopment as the new terminus for the Eurostar rail link with Paris and Brussels. Standing on the platform is a larger than life statue of poet John Betjeman by Martin Jennings. Betjeman had been the driving force behind efforts to save the site when it was threatened by development plans during the 1960s and the sculpture stands as a tribute from London and Continental Railways to the man who made the development of the station possible. Regarded as the best ever likeness of John Betjeman it was completed in 2 months and the statue was unveiled on 12th Nov 2007. Lumix DMC TZ18.
