I saw a dead body

I saw a dead body
down by the sea,
I wasn’t too upset by this,
‘cause I know it wasn’t me.

I heard the screams of torture,
echo through the world,
But I didn’t really listen,
‘cause I know it wasn’t me.

I felt the pain of loss,
squeezing at my heart,
But I paid no attention,
‘cause I know it wasn’t me.

And yes the rhyming’s awful,
And I do not really care.
Though in truth I really do care,
Though mostly the world turns its back with other distractions.

We need 20% off CALENDARS and NOW to be competitive with XMAS

At this time of year, calendars are everywhere and people know that they’ll be reduced after Christmas. I am about to lose 3 calendar sales because of the prices, even if I make $ZERO profit. To be competitive, we need cheaper calendars.

It’s great to have 20% off all white T’s and Hoodies but we really need that on Calendars before everyone has bought them from the shops at a much cheaper price…..

What numb feelings that night does bring,
From drinking till you’re tight.

What I sent to the Prime Minister

Sent to the Prime Minister of Australia, Julia Gillard

I refer your attention to the case of Agnieszka Miller who was recently sentenced to five years’ jail, suspended after one year, because the Queensland Justice has no concept of the sort of conditions under which many carers must live.

Here we have a carer who was suffering from chronic depression. Her mother was difficult and domineering.

Before she lost her ‘cognitive functions’, her mother repeatedly refused medical intervention, telling her daughter it was her duty to care for her. As most of us know, the ‘loss’ of these functions often occurs years before the medical authorities are prepared to commit themselves to any sort of judgment.

And if her ability to make sensible decisions was lost, certainly her ability to emotionally m

It's all about Caring for Yourself

Carer’s are one of the world’s most stressed group. In an analysis recently done by Deakin University (Australia) carers have the highest levels of stress – even worse than the seriously unemployed. They also have the worst health.…

They provide care for others but rarely spend any time or effort on themselves. Yet so much depends on their efforts – lives depend on their efforts. But as time passes they lose more and more of themselves in the caring role.

This calendar offers just twelve steps into another world – just for carers. If only for a brief moment they are the passport into a place and a time where caring is not part of your life. A guilt-edged guilt-free break that will help you to keep on helping others.

Buy one for the carer in your life – even if you are not the one being

Does Your World Need a Little Darkening?

If life is a little too sugary, if colour is getting you down, then perhaps you need a dose of Gothic

I am pleased to present the 2011 revision of my Gothic Light calendar. Guarenteed to bring a little darkness into an over-lit, over-saccharined world.

How does God see Your Church?

While we mortals can only see our world in normal white light, it seems unlikely that God the Creator should be so limited. The world no doubt looks even more beautiful to One who sees all so clearly.

Here then is a glimpse of how He might see your church. Twelve months of beautiful churches – as you’ve never seen them (unless you were lucky enough to buy last years calendar!).

Check it out now!

A slightly delayed but nonetheless happy report....

I sold another of my Beware of the Photographer t-shirts, AND stickers AND also one of my I am a photographer not a terrorist t-shirts!…

This is sooooo pleasing for a number of reasons.

1. I get paid. Well, it’s true and I very much appreciate it.
2. Someone likes my stuff enough to buy it – that’s a goooood feeling
3. Someone is proud to be a photographer and wants the world to know that just because you have a camera in your hand, you are not necessarily related to Bin Laden. Excellent.

Too often the world seems to be shutting our photographers and limiting them. Photographers are the historians of the world. Destroy their ability to shoot and you destroy the past.

When your children ask what life was like today, do you really want to have to admit that you let it be destroyed?

Kolchak:The Night Stalker Locations

For anyone who remembers the classic horror series Kolchak:The Night Stalker, you may be interested in the following locations I have discovered on Google Earth.

I have the DVDs (absolutely love the series and the two films) and so I went hunting to try to find some locations.

The panorama of the sea over Chicago was relatively easy to find. I am not 100% sure if it was shot from the building I have located but the area looks exactly right so I think it’s very probable. The building is called Lake Point Tower

Most exciting (at least for me) is the location used for the INS office. Almost through pure luck I stumbled across it. It is located at

Not that she’ll read them anyway.

Australia’s already slow and very backward internet being slowed down even more by Internet Filtering

- How can we have freedom of speech when anything we say online may result in block out?
- How can we have accountability when blocked sites, and reasons, and objections are not allowed or not made public?
- How can we attract tourists used to good internet access speeds when we are actively working to slow our (already slow) internet down?

Writers suffer from a higher-than-normal incidence of depression

An Excellent Article

Why would that be so? Why would writers be more susceptible to depression?

Is it because they are more in tune with the ups and downs of life?
Or is it, perhaps, because the writer’s primary drive is to write and having said that, to write that others may read. And when they don’t?

If your self worth depends on the engagement of others – and they are not engaged, is depression a natural consequence?

Another good site

The Un-Midas Touch

Though everything King Midas touched, turned to Gold.
It soon became clear that this was a curse.
Though everything that I have lately touched, turned to Ashes,
It soon becomes clear that this is a gift.

A gift because I have friends,
redbubblers,
who prove to stupid old men who think they can write or make art,
that they are important and have worth,
even when the stupid old man can not see it himself.

The un-Midas touch. Turns all endeavors to ashes.
And from the ashes are born the phoenix of the heart.

Just updated a favourites RedBubble helper

I use a framed set to access redbubble because it makes my life oooh so easy. I just updated it to include an option GNEWS. Check it out Using RedBubble (and submitting to groups) the Easy way.

When you get group news, a message displays on your MyBubble and that’s great. But once you’ve clicked it and been there, it’s hard to remember how to get back to it. Often, I want to re-read news later on but can never be bothered to hunt around for the right link.

Now I have that link [GNEWS] always available to me via my framed documents.

It works for me, maybe it might help you out too…..

Using RedBubble (and submitting to groups) the Easy way.

I want your opinions!

Here’s a thought I’ve been having.

Redbubble is a little limited when it comes to written works. Not only with respect to formatting, but also with product. There aint none! Then there’s that facebook thing – if you want your stuff on facebook, well it works really fine – tick VG to redbubble developers. But what if you just want your written stuff on facebook and not your images? Or the other way around?

I am considering fractionalizationism. I.e. a new user for my written works (e.g. Wordsmith or something) so that I can better tailor some of redbubble to better serve me.

What do you think?
What are your opinions?

Agatha Christie Covers

I am an extreme admirer of the artist Tom Adams who produced sheer brilliance in the form of covers for Agatha Christie paperback books.

I cannot compete with this genius but want to pay some sort of homage to both Agatha Christie (the one and only Queen of Crime) and also to Tom Adams (Artist Extraordinaire) – so I thought I’d try creating my own covers for the various Agatha Christie books.

This is not going to be easy!!!!!

I thought I’d start with Death Comes As The End or Death on the Nile – mainly because they are Egyptianish and I have a few oddments I can shoot to fit this theme…..

March 10 Uprising

March 10 marks the 51st anniversary of the 1959 Tibetan National Uprising, when thousands of Tibetans in Lhasa, rose up against China’s invasion and occupation of their homeland. On this day, Tibetans and Tibet supporters worldwide gather to commemorate Tibetans’ courageous resistance to Chinese oppression and to demand freedom and justice for the Tibetan people.

On March 10, thousands of Tibetans surrounded the Norbulingka Palace, the Dalai Lama’s summer residence, to protect their leader and to demand that Chinese troops leave Tibet. Despite Tibetan government officials’ orders to disperse, the people refused to leave. As the protests intensified, Chinese troops responded with deadly force and a full-scale uprising ensued in the streets of Lhasa. On March 12, 1959, thousands of Tibetan

The writing is on the wall

Circumstances have forced me to re-think my abilities as a writer. While I consider my position, any new writings may be available directly to those with an interest.

The writing is on the wall and so my writing is no longer on the wall.

Many have prevailed to reconsider my position
In view of such encouragement, I relent
Some old shall return
Some new shall manifest

It says on the RedBubble HomePage.....

“Reach 2 million people a month with your art, design & photography”

I am lucky to read 20 people a month. very lucky. very very lucky.

:(

Still, the people I do reach are absolutely wonderful. Artists every one of them regardless of the genre in which they work. They are brilliant, they are supportive and they the sort of people who help to make this world worth living in.

So perhaps quantity is less important anyway than quality.

I might not reach 20 people a month,
But the people I do reach are worth a million.

Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye...

No, I’m not going. LOL.

I am however attending the Poetry Idol in Geelong and will be performing.

So wish me luck – I could do with winning though the competition will be unimaginable. Yet it is better to try yet fail than to fail to try.

RedBubble Inspires - The Creationists

The Creationists…

‘Creationist’ is my term. I use it to refer to a type of Art characterized by the creation of an image that goes beyond surrealism yet is not in itself Abstract. You will see here pictures that look familiar yet unfamiliar. They will take you through well known paths to places you didn’t know existed. The Creationists build newness.

This is not an exhaustive list either of redbubble creationists nor even of those who inspire me most. This list BTW is just a starting point. So if you are not on this list it means nothing other than I just didn’t get the time to add you right now. Chances are that you should be.

The Lightweavers…

Here then is my list of lightweavers. Lightweavers manipulate light in one form or another to create an exploration of Art which is, to me, both engaging and different. Expect colour, expect vivid, expect brilliance.

This is not an exhaustive list either of redbubble lightweavers nor even of those who inspire me most. This list BTW is just a starting point. So if you are not on this list it means nothing other than I just didn’t get the time to add you right now. Chances are that you should be.

Perhaps you should read this - at least before 2012

I recommend that you read Fung Glui Cried – at least before 2012.

We all know of the predicted demise of the world in 2012. If it happens then there’ll be lots of people who would say ‘I told you so’ if it weren’t for the fact that they will be dead. Perhaps they’ll still say it….. Of course, if it doesn’t happen then there will be lots of different people all saying ‘I told you so’ only they’ll all be alive (or at least most of them).

Either way, there’s a message here. And it’s all about our ability to be insular.

Please be introduced to the work of my deceased brother

My brother, Tim, died a couple of years back, from septicemia. It was a tragic death because he died estranged from the family, without support, and after a life of struggle. He worked little, for this was not something he excelled at, so his standard of living was far below most in Australia.…

He reminded me of a 18th or 19th century artist, living in a small garret. His passions were technology (he was literally a genius with electronics despite the fact that ongoing employment eluded him) and art. He was a genius of an artist.

I am now posting some of his work online here at RedBubble. All profits from sales go directly DirectDeposit to the Geelong Animal Welfare Society. He would have liked that. You can see his profile at Timothy Moore

An Urgent Appeal - Let China Know Her Responsibilities .....

Dalai Lama’s Envoys in Beijing for Talks…

The Dalai Lama’s Special Envoy Lodi Gyari and Envoy Kelsang Gyaltsen are in Beijing for discussions with representatives of the Chinese Government. This is the ninth round in the Tibet-China dialogue and follows a gap of fifteen months.

ATC and other Tibet support groups have welcomed this development with some caution.Eight previous rounds have failed to bring real progress towards a resolution for Tibet. Nonetheless, the resumption is a sign that both sides see value in continuing the dialogue. ATC will continue to encourage our own Government to more actively support the dialogue process.

The resumption of talks has been officially welcomed by the US, Britain, Canada and other foreign governments. Read more

Are you sick of being treated like a Terrorist?

As each day goes by, more and more photographers and artists are made to feel like terrorists. FUNNY REDBUBBLE BEHAVIOUR SOLVED

I think I have solved my intermittent problem with Firefox and Redbubble

I don’t know why Firefox was not working right but Opera was, however here is the change that I made.

A couple of days ago, under advice from my ISP, I changed my MTU to 1500 because I was having major (i.e. ultra-mega) problems uploading my 80mb book to blurb. This fixed the upload and I finally, after about 3 months, managed to upload my book.

But since then RedBubble has behaved oddly. Apart from BIG spacing between the items on my activity listings, my WRITING and JOURNAL listings were appearing almost normally but with BIG fonts. Huh?

Anyway, I changed back to MU=1500 and it’s all working normally again.

So that’s something to check.

For the record I’m running Mac Leopard.

Intermittent Problem with Firefox?

I have an intermittent problem with firefox whereby items in my activity list have heaps of blank space between them. Seems OK with safari.

This affects displays of comments on my work, favourtings, featurings etc….

Anyone else got this problem?
