The start of the Hounslow Heath Track can be a deeply rutted, muddy, root bound affair just waiting to bring you crashing to the ground, doing yourself damage on the way. This is especially so when there has been much rain. In the few days before this shot was taken we had 3 or 4 inches of rain.
The rain and wind had knocked a lot of the fagus leaves to the ground amongst the tree roots and the moss, and the result was this beautiful carpetted wonderland.
