Artist's Description

Weird picture, i know. He sat on a pot in the water.

Red fire ants, or RFA, are one of the most invasive insects. They have a high reproduction rate, build huge colonies, are aggressive and consume a multitude of various foods. The ants, when established, have an adverse effect on the horticultural and the agriculture in the area. They destroy the natural ecosystem, and it is costly to get rid of them. The ants also cause damage to roads because of tunneling and soil removal, and they are attracted to electrical equipment because of the hum. The bite of a red fire ant is venomous. The ants attack when their nest is exposed. Their attack consists of injecting venom into the victim through a bite. An attack can be stimulated simply through vibration or scent. The worker ants in the colony can bite more than once. There are four lifestyles within an ant colony: the reproductive male with wings, the unmated queen with wings, the mated queen and the worker without wings.
