Holiday Invocation

Tonight I will go to pray.

It is the eve of my mother’s birthday.

In 9 more days it will be the eve of her death, and the eve of my brother’s death and then the Holiday Season takes up again and brings us to our New Year and all the good awaiting us.

I no longer dread the Holidays, they now bring no terror, grief, abandonment; I struggled with those for far too many decades.

Instead I celebrate my small departed family, remembering the good, and finding a comfortable peace. Perhaps you out there will get a little something from my Holiday Invocation, so, Happy Holiday to you:

WE GATHER again on this Holiday Evening in Sacred Communication.

We bless this lovely home;

this light and lovely home to all,

knowing that Spirit is present.

Spirit abides within each one of us.

This loving presence which we share,

Spirit,

moves us now to let go the businesses,

the concerns,

the disruptions

of our day; and

to dwell, and rest; to find Peace

in the presence of Divine Love.

As we share with and listen to each other,

we know Spirit works through our words,

in our thoughts

as in our hearts.

And by gathering here and now, we support

this community, our community

by Listening to each other,

by Learning each other,

thereby learning Spirit in another blessed way.

In this that is to come

we give thanks, knowing it is very, very good.

And So It Is.
