The Road to Oman

On the Road to Oman

On the road to Oman
I will sleep the day to evade the sun
travel by night the stars in the sky
a landscape for scherazade, exotic land
of spice, mint, and delicate mango

white covered cities from long empty roads
camels sitting with their blue colored cloaks
miles of sand to separate, the absence of
north, south, east, and west

springs of water flow through the garden
tiny lizards dance around in the night
of cries from the mosque sing the desert air
awake this dream to bring my queen near

the Arabian nights come forth in dreams
silk and mirth, more valuable than gold
one hundred stories from the past to write
desert song from the road of Oman

The Road to Oman
