Artist's Description

Shannon Falls Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada. It is located 58 kilometers from Vancouver and 2 kilometers south of Squamish along the Sea to Sky Highway. Shannon Falls is the third highest waterfall in British Columbia. The water empties into Shannon Creek, which is heavily lined with rocks. There is an easy 350 meter long walking trail through a forest of Western hemlock, Douglas fir and Western red cedar. Although the viewpoint at the end of the trail gives a spectacular view of the roaring falls, this area is very dangerous because heavy rain can increase the volume of water making everywhere very slippery. In fact, three young adults slipped and fell to their deaths in July, 2018, when they lost their footing at the top of the falls.

My friend in the photo is at the bottom of the falls along Shannon Creek and is being very careful. It was August, 2017, and a very hot and dry day. Photo taken with my Canon EOS Rebel T4i camera.
