Artist's Description

The Stanley Building is one of a number of wedge-shaped buildings on Hanover Street in Liverpool, England. It has an attractive warehouse facade in red and yellow brick and is considered to be late Victorian. Behind the front is now a modern office space, refurbished as part of the massive Liverpool One scheme.

It is a listed heritage building from the early 19th century with some 20th century alterations. It was made from a red/brown brick with the lower part painted. It has stone dressings with an ornamental gable in the centre and a slate roof covering. This building is part of the most significant surviving group of buildings located close to the site of the city’s first enclosed dock, and associated with the early phase of Liverpool’s development as a seaport of international significance. Distinctive architectural form and prominent siting give the building noteworthy importance within the historic port landscape.

Photographed when I was staying just down the street from it in late August 2018 with my Canon SX720SH camera.
