Artist's Description

The Victoria Hotel in Robin Hood’s Bay is a jewel in its gorgeous setting near the moors of North Yorkshire along the coast of the North Sea. In the 18th century, Robin Hood’s Bay was reportedly the busiest smuggling community on the Yorkshire coast. Its natural isolation, protected by marshy moorland on three sides, offered a natural aid to this well-organised business which, despite its dangers, must have paid better than fishing. The Victoria Hotel has a lovely panoramic Sea View Restaurant, Bay View Coffee Shop & Tearoom and a traditional Yorkshire Bar serving a selection of real ales and bar meals. It embodies everything typically British and as a guest of the hotel, I can attest to its perfect location for exploring all over the area. Photo taken with Canon SX720HS camera in July 2016 and dedicated to my dear friend Jill and her mother who were my guests for lunch one day.
