Artist's Description

I don’t know how we kids came up with the name “monkey balls” for kiwis, but it seems we’ve always called them that. Recently, I visited the Westham Island Herb Farm and discovered a kiwi tree (or bush) and was so surprised to see it heavy with ripe fruit! I had no idea they could be grown in our climate, albeit it is very temperate here. I had always thought of them as being grown in southern areas where the weather was hot all year round. But there they were – in living colour – and I couldn’t resist taking a few shots. I like this one because they do appear to be just hanging there ready for the picking. I wish I would have been allowed to pick one, but that would have been stealing! Naught, naughty!!! Photo taken with my Samsung S6 cellphone – it sure takes great photos!
