This is a male Lesser Bird of Paradise (Paradisaea minor) that lives in tropical rainforest of New Guinea island (West Papua and Papua New Guinea). The bird plays important role in preserving rainforest environment because it disperse seeds of fruits that it eats to all corners of the forest.
The population of the paradise is being threatened by the rapid conversion of forest into farmland, roads, hunting, monoculture plantation and human settlements.
I made this drawing to raise awareness among all of us about the importance of preserving the rainforest.
