Artist's Description

While not exactly a photograph of trains, this is a shot of interest nonetheless as it shows the work created to make it possible for a train to “turn around”. This turnstile is just outside the Sacramento Rail Museum and very close to both the ancient and toxic freight train repair yard (considered for development including the Sac Kings basketball team), the old passenger rail station (used by Hollywood for a Joe Namath movie, now being used by Amtrak), and a 1911 central pivot bridge where trains pass under cars on a historic structure over the Sacramento River.

The turnstile itself is original tho the surrounding concrete and fencing was added for safety; I remember it before the improvements as a oily hole in the dirt, often with an engine left on it for show.
