Artist's Description

At the corner of 2nd and K Streets in Sacramento California, this building from the Gold Rush era still stands. It has had everything in it from a brothel to Burger King so if these walls could talk, the stories might burn your ears. LOL!

The lighting was natural but I had the camera biased towards night photography and the colours became a bit deeper than I could see with my eyes. I’m colourblind and took no reference shots so I have nothing to compare the finished edit to and be sure nothing else changed other than the correction of perspective (straightening up the outer sides of the building to adjust for digital distortion) and clarifying. Dressed as I usually am for public photography (slightly scruffy, older clothing), I expect nobody to notice me so I can work without distraction or fear of being robbed of my expensive gear. But the telephoto lens of the D80 attracted tourists like moths to the streetlights and EVERYBODY seemed to want to get their picture in the local newspaper! Go figure, huh? ;-)

This location is almost exactly 1 1/2 miles walking distance from my apartment.
