Artist's Description

47 minutes before 2009 came to California, I was onstage and being the typical clown I usually am while performing. And clowning resulted in this shot of my left hand being busy and “on task” while my right hand goes its own way – usually getting me into trouble. Sometimes it’s the other way around if I’m doing something that requires dexterity my left hand has long forgotten but that’s pretty dangerous with a right hand only DSLR. While I can’t actually drop the Nikon to the floor, I CAN accidentally let it fall into my twice-broken left ribs and that wouldn’t end well at all. :-)

Funny, but when you pick up a camera, some people crowd the stage and some people disappear quickly. In a bar with a person who may not be your significant other, the latter may be prudent. But I rarely shoot the audience these days unless I’m shooting them as a backdrop for my band or another one. Cheaters and would-be cheaters ‘making a move’ have little to fear from the one handed keyboardist who’s either shooting with his left hand (for right hand articulated keyboard solos) or shooting with his correct hand (while just holding down a rhythm or soloing gently and melodically). Either way I can get something like this shot and show you a true “view from the stage”. ;-)
