Artist's Description

This is the first time I ever saw this bird. This small Warbler was fighting with himself in the side mirror of our car, and hopping back and forth from my Flowering Crabapple Tree. He didn’t mind that I was there taking pictures.

The Northern Parula is a small songbird, with a blue/gray hood and wings, yellow chest with a reddish spot on front and back, and white wingbars. Northern Parulas breed in mature forests along streams, swamps, and other bottomlands and feed primarily on a variety of insects.

Taken 6/28/11 in my backyard, Clarks Valley, PA, USA
Canon EOS 60D, Sigma 150-500 mm lens
Single Image, F/8, ISO 800, spot metering
