Canon overlooking the Valley of Death, “The Slaughter Pen” ~ In July of 1863, 160,000 Americans fought in the Battle of Gettysburg. Dead of both Union and Confederate armies littered the Gettysburg landscape for a week before all of the bodies were buried. As I stood in this location, it was impossible to imagine what it must have been like to see the countless dead bodies of our ancestors.
