'Kingdom Of Sand'

Like the heat of this night,
in my kingdom of sand,
I am plagued by the shadow,
of my own heavy hand.

But tonight I was free,
my head turned to the West,
as in days of my youth.
My thoughts dwelled on little,
all the memories held glee.

Lately I’ve been thinking,
of this dream I once had.
Remind me to tell you,
before I’m undone.
Lest the fates come to claim me;
or this world drive me mad.
