'Overload Indicator'

We were stood upon the rooftop. Frozen souls wreathed in snow as the urbanscape before us bled into silver and white. We moved with intensive purpose, our mission accomplished we were set to celebrate; in honour of life.

The light flared around me as if over exposed, and golden red tones enveloped my vision. The sound was euphoric and morale was high, my waking consciousness blurred the line; and I was gone from that place.

My eyes snapped open. Far removed from the instance prior; I stood upon high once more. Maintaining vigil, gaze cast out over the night; beyond the fabricated radiance of the world below, unto a million shining points that signified eternity through the veil. I reached out to it with focused clarity. My mind moved out of space and time as the realisation came to me, that I had walked alone for far too long.

The afternoon sun bathed us in glory, and gentle wind swept in from the West. Stood upon the runway. Left turbine up. Right turbine up. Taxi to zero-one. Eyes to the sky, and another is gone. This time enlisted, to fight; and serve the commons. I’m left behind feeling for the second time in my life, that it is time to leave; though I know I must stay behind. Just a little longer, just enough to catch my breath.

This light indicates overload.

Blue as my infamous eyes.
