She’ Gone. A short story about friendship.

I had a friend once.
We met some years back by chance. A few exploratory steps were taken at first to see if we liked each other. Seems we did. We had some adventures and our activity together got a bit frantic there for a while. We had a lot of laughs, she and I. Occasionally a tear or two was shed when I’d get choked up over something she said.
Mostly we’d write to each other. Sometimes we’d dabble with sending pictures but we’d always come back to the roots of our friendship. I’d never tell her what to do or try to dominate in any way. I was happy to be led.
Then, she faulted. Or was it me? I’m not sure but it looks as though this thing has faded – like promising to stay in touch with old school friends.
I’ll miss her. Her name was Flash.
