If anyone has ever planted climbing Nasturtiums, then you feel my pain. The flowers are very nice and bloom for long periods… but the leaves! The leaves can get as large as any monstrous lily pad… and often completely obscure every bloom on the vine due to their size and number. They take over whatever space they inhabit and become, well… a nuisance.
After a couple of months of letting them pretty much do as they please, I lost my patience with the lot of them and ripped them all out… throwing the remains under the pine tree in my front yard. Weeks later… I discovered that they had somehow latched on under there. This is one of several blooms that is surviving on minimal light, (all filtered at best)… happily grinning at me from under the pine tree branches each time I walk past. I have to admit I was rather impressed with their tenacity, as I squatted on the lawn to get this shot of the sturdy little bugger.

Beautiful shot, Robyn. Lovely details and colours. A sort of floral extended middle finger, you might say!
Hahahaha! Never thought of it that way, Mike… clever you!
How beautiful and very good colors!
Thank you very much, Ellen!
Mother nature eh, you just can’t keep a good gal down. Beautiful shot and great narrative.
I guess she showed me! Thank you kindly Paul, for the compliments!
I love the pretty colours you have captured in the background. I have just planted Nasturtium and have quite a few pictures of the leaves but have been unable to get one of the flower…..I think this is so extremely delicate and beautiful.
The flowers are quite nice, Ingz.. but the leaves are an unruly lot… there will be no harm in pinching away several of them if you choose… so that you can see the blooms… thank you for your wonderful comments… : )
beautiful
Thank you, Justart!

Thank you very much, Trudi! All just hiding there in the shadows of the pine tree…. : )

Beautiful – and the narrative enhances the whole mood of the image.
