Giving Up The Ghost

Maybe it’s because I’m a fiction writer . . . but I see something a little haunting about someone who’s been a republican longer than I’ve been alive, to suddenly switch gears. His ulterior motives are either a bit scarier than what we’ll get all wrapped in politically correct wrapping paper (with an I love Obama bow), something big is brewing at the Whitehouse, so be forewarned . . . or all this hullabaloo is a way to get the focus off the SWINE FLU. I mean why else would all the major news channels make such a big deal about it being the biggest, everybody-is-talking about, story . . . for lunch hour? My goodness, goodness, goodness. You really want to burn rubber, wait for prime time to drop such a huge bombshell.

Am I right?

Now, my husband will laugh along with the rest of you, but it makes me feel better. It’s like telling my kids not to do drugs, don’t ride with anybody who’s been drinking, and don’t ever go anywhere at night alone. Am I a nag, well maybe. But I’ll also never be the mom on Channel 7 news who says, Oh God, if I just told them . . .

So, I’m telling all those two dozen eyes that might bother to read this, and don’t get me wrong I’m still rooting for the man (that being Obama), just don’t be surprised if some of the news channels make it sound like hail and brimstone will be spurting from the capital building at any minute (there’s bound to be a few blogs sighting biblical meaning behind it all-there usually are), we find out the flu pandemic was actually a terrorist (with terrible aim) plop against the global leaders recently visiting “Ground Zero”, or it is something as benign as one of us “commoners” switching from Suave to VO-5 shampoo, (all the souls in the house and senate will eventually look to be scrambling aboard the Obama ark . . . it’s sturdy and floats on good fashion sense and target marketing.) Unfortunately, campaign promises continue to go un-kept, the national dept deepens, and the transparency we were promised seems not worth a whole lot more than public defenders making deals with felons, and how convenient to have something new to worry about. Or maybe, just maybe, as “The all great and wonderful Obama” twirls upon his first milestone (100 days tomorrow), he doesn’t want us thinking about un-kept campaign promises, the deepening national dept, and that we were coming close to the collective conscience revelation that promise of transparency is just another political tool for controlling the masses (guiding our prospective through a looking glass). Look how easily and quickly our observations are diverted, though throwing PIGs and CHICKENS into the pen together isn’t exactly undeserving of some notice. Please, everyone take note. . . it’s literary irony is very reminiscent of 911. (Something to think about.)
