Artist's Description

Day30 of my #atextureaday photo challenge comes from an athletic center not far from us that has clay tennis courts. More common in continental Europe and South America, clay courts are cheaper to install, but more expensive to maintain. Clay courts are made of crushed shale, stone, brick, or other unbound mineral aggregates.

This image is perfect for those who love being on the court. Cover your laptop or phone with it, or bring some clay-textured throw pillows into your dorm room for a unique look.

While the texture isn’t immediately noticed, look closely and you begin seeing the individual granules. An image like this is great for creating that distressed, grunge look common in vintage designs.
