beautiful curse

smart and beautiful
both of which kept you
far away

your beauty could not be compared
so you gave up
dreams you once had
too smart for your own good
or was it the good of others
that you went after, getting taken advantage of at all turns

and all because you gave up
didn’t think one could add up to all you wanted
so you gave up the dream

settling for the average dude
he broke you down
until your beauty no longer could be seen

beat up and broken down
time and self torture caught up to you
leaving but a faint image of what you once knew

no longer strong
no longer confident
hardly the same girl I once knew

hopefully, once again the true you shines through
showing that there’s more there than people knew
then people will finally see the person you were born to be

don’t settle for average
go out and get the dream
make what you want a reality

beautiful curse

Artist's Description

I guess some view being attractive and smart as being a curse because lots of people try to check and see if people they want to see measure up to who they are and what they want. It may be superficial, but it happens. It’s just sad when that makes people lose sight of their dream and that’s what this poem is about.
