Innocence Taken

innocence taken
faith shaken
what she knew
knows not now

for the world she knew
now departed
exchanged
for a world of fear

not knowing
what will come
the next day
the next hour

stuck in this place
things I do
forced against her will
sold into this slavery by people she trusted

now numb
to the pain
to love

what is love anyways
of it, she do not know
and if it was there
she wishes it’d show

she must do what she knows
hope, just seems hopeless
so why try

dreams she once had
filled
with a future
with a family to love her
to guide her

now it seems
all she dreams
how to get away
and all they did to her
dreams, more like nightmares
she, left in fear
knowing tomorrow
for her, will probably have the same in store

Artist's Description

wrote this poem when talking about human trafficing around the world and what happens to people that live through it. It’s sad what those people have to go through…… They look for freedom but find their prison…..

There was also a book called The Awakening that semi inspired this poem as well. I forget the author but it was a good book………
