Cremlin the greedy goblin

Cremlin was a greedy goblin
who dwelled underneath my house.
At night he scampered in my room
as quietly as a mouse.

He watched me as I was sleeping,
to make sure I wouldn’t wake,
then snuck into the kitchen
and stole a piece of my mother’s cake

He crawled back under the floor boards
after every crumb was ate,
when my mother woke that morning,
she had already sealed my fate.

When I told her it wasn’t me,
she laughed very hard.
“For eating all the cake” she said
“you must not leave the yard”.

I told her it was Cremlin
who ate all her precious cake,
and that punishing me for his bad turn,
would be a horrible mistake

With that she sent me to the garden,
with orders to pull every weed.
How dare I be punished,
for Cremlins midnight feed?

I planned to prove to mother
that what I said was not a lie.
I’d give her so much proof
That not even she could deny.

I set up sneaky traps for him
all over our back lawn
I was determined to catch this ugly pest
before the very next dawn.

That night, he crept inside the house,
and spied a sweet warm pie.
He started eating it up unaware,
that tonight he was going to die

I got my mothers broomstick
and hid behind the door,
then when he wasn’t looking
I whacked poor Cremin to the floor

When I looked I noticed
he was squashed from toe to head
that’s when I realized
Poor Cremlin..well he was dead

I carefully peeled him off the floor
and placed him in a book,
then when mother awoke
I made her have a look.

She apologized for being mean
and not believing what I said
But she was glad that the greedy goblin
was squashed all flat and DEAD
