Soul Searching

During an extended stay in the beautiful Foothills of California I often drove way up into Azusa Canyon. I had a favorite spot to park under a large pine tree, and I would open the cargo van and enjoy the beautiful view and it seemed easier and closer to communicate with my Heavenly Father. It was very quiet and sometimes a deer would just walk out of the woods and stand and look at me!

Naturally writing materials were close by in case the “creative juices” started flowing which they usually did up there. This poem came from that time.

SOUL SEARCHING BY LADY DI FORBES

Alone on an island; adrift on the sea; no plans for the future
That’s lonely to me

The marriage long over; the kids almost grown; No love of my own now
So lost and alone.

I try to ‘start over’ ; Find a new place to go; It’s hard to start over
When you are feeling so low. Mistakes? I’ve made plenty!

But they are over and done; I have paid for them dearly and
The pain lingers on…There must be a reason for me to be here
I hope soon to find it; in the future…so near

I must quit just skimming across life’s waterways
I have got to find meaning for the rest of my days.
