Upon entering the ruinous village of hampton, one of the first sights to greet you is this tree, an emphasis on the harsh past of Burra and the emptiness of the abandoned village.
Hampton is a little known aspect of Burra – pretty much what I call a ghost town it was once a thriving collection of about 30 cottages and a chapel.
Hampton was modelled around a traditional English village, however it was virtually abandoned in the 1920’s with the last residents leaving in the 1960’s.
This was one of my favorite locations in Burra, it has so much atmosphere.
