Pages

Blank pages that still smell like ink.
Blank pages that are waiting to be filled.

Yellow pages that now smell like dust.
Yellow pages that are filled with meaning.

Blank, how every book starts.
Yellow, how every page wants to end up.

Blank pages are fresh and never bend at the right angles.
Yellow pages are old and so worn that they do exactly what you want out of habit.

Blank pages are wanting a good story to fill them,
Wanting something like The Odessey or Jane Erye to give them meaning.

Yellow pages are wanting a reader to pick them up,
Wanting someone to know the only story that they have to tell.

Blank pages, open space, flatness, emptiness.
Yellow pages, cities, landscapes, life.

Blank pages, new and young.
Yellow pages, old and wise.

Pages are all different.
But they are pages all the same.
