Country Affair

Children in the country are suposed to be safe from the big city life. We’re suposed to get excited over the simple things that the city has to offer. And we are taught to shy away from the dangers of it’s inner demons. Children are suposed to stick to this guide line.
But I have been to the city, I have found the wonders and the demons that it holds in it’s grasp. And I love it’s entire being. The acrid smell of the street. The speeding cars. The never ending streets. The mass of people pushing and shoving.
But I live here in the country, and I am in love with it as well.
At heart, I am a city child. A city child having an affair with the country.

The carnival came to town and everyone was excited. It is the biggest thing to come to this side of Maryland all year. Sad, I know.
I always love to go because it’s the closest that I can get to the excitement I feel in the city. My friends loved to go because they can pretend to be something that they really aren’t. They are hard studiers, and they can take a long night off. They are quiet people, and they can scream on the rides. They are always on a diet, and they can fudge a little because they know they’ll lose it later on a ride. They are country kids, and they can pretend to be city kids. Even though they are too in love with the country to ever leave it.
