Artist's Description

I was cleaning out Charlies (my dog) water bowl on a warm night when I noticed there was a snail still hanging on. As it was already dark I brought the bowl inside for a play. After having a lot of trouble with the snail moving around the bowl and lighting, I set up a make shift studio on my stove.
I sat the bowl in a large pot on the stove top and turned the light in the rangehood on. Meanwhile the other little snail on the other side of the bowl (which I thought was dead) started moving. I repositioned the snails to try to get them both in the frame. They just kept on moving.
There still wasn’t quite enough light so I got a lamp and set it to the side. Fill flash was used on the other side.
I was a little worried with reflections off the metal bowl but I cropped those out when editing. Also slight adjustment of brightness and contrast using GIMP.
