beer garden blues

Guilt free, I sit alone
Cigarette half gone
Hands wrapped around phone
Tapping this speil.

Two thirds ale drank
This heat is exhausting
Crows in the background
Background squawking.

Beer garden blues
Wearing the same shoes
That I’ll wear tomorrow
Steel capped toes.

Yellow and blue shirt
Navy blue strides
Covered in dirt and streaks of filth
Covered in the days efforts.

After twelve hours
Of go man go
I need this piece of time
To reflect and to woe.

So whenever it is I decide
To go back home
My demons will be silenced
Kept calm, ready for tomorrow.

I will drag myself
Through my front door
Smile and kiss the missus
Hugs for the kids.

I will tell her my day
Excluding my ale
She does not need to know
Of this vicious circle routine.

She wants potatoes
Before I come home
So I purchase them happier
Than I was just before.
