Marketing Your Work Update...

Last June/July I wrote a journal about some recent success that I had in marketing some of my work. Well 4 months have passed and I thought I would write an update journal to my previous one.

I received a phone call this week from the same store that bought my previous images (A local chain of stores that have shops at all the main tourist sites across Newfoundland). The store rep was telling me about a calendar they were putting together to represent Newfoundland and asked if I would be interested in supplying them with some images for the calendar. I was totally in awe!!! I agreed at once and the rep gave me a list of images that they would like to use in the calendar. After we discussed a bit more about the calendar she informed me that the shops would be placing a Christmas order with me and then come February they would be placing another substantial order for the upcoming tourist season.

The point of this journal is just to tell all you amazingly talented photographers and artists here on the bubble to get out there and start pounding the pavement and promote your work in your local area. Create a portfolio and take it to the shops. I found that creating a professional looking portfoio was KEY to me getting my work noticed. A professional portfolio is inexpensive and can really showscase your work and talent!!!!! So when the weather is bad and you can’t get out there to take those amazing images… take the opportunity and promte yourself and your work and it will pay off in dividends.
