They were so young

The crisis of todays vision and
the folly of a universal value is that
even the most imaginative, tortured
beautiful souls could never piece together a past
where the movement of present words could compare
no, no, no
its the nature of beauty to flow like cheap booze, rather
these cars that speed and these trains that fly
passing by rotten wood, forgotten and stripped only to
disappoint an audience expecting a good train metaphor.

There are no good train metaphors
at least
not on the tip of this tongue so
the better brained should take advantage of such a vulnerable moment
to speak of fast passing blurs, of
sirens that scream of their arrival and those poor
bottom of the bottle types
who painted the rails with their final stunk breath
all for the sake of a metaphor with no vision

a dollar a piece for these words I suppose
thats how I’ll find vision, a path to be worn
raw, beaten, scattered and tattered
to be equated to a train with no vision or metaphor.

They were so young
