Deep in My Mind

I stumble, and there I lie,
in this tunnel of darkness I breakdown and cry.
The sharp edges and ragged rocks which line this hole,
tear at my mind and ravage my soul.
The tunnel of sanity is a cruel place,
it’s a tunnel which offers you very little space,
there’s no room to think or turn about,
and it’s almost impossible to find your way out.
In this tunnel you will find all the pieces of your life,
that have affected your mind and lead you to strife.
Flashes on the wall, reflections of you,
your family, your friends, the things you should do.
Bad times and good times, guilt and the like,
all store in this cavern and produce one more spike.
Each memory will hurt you anyway it can,
Until eventually you surface, raising your hands.
The exit is close and as you reflect,
you offer yourself a little respect.
You came out alive, but are you sane?
Or did all that scaring within you remain?
The objective of visiting such a hostile place,
is to try to work through the intricate lace,
of living, of loving, of being and not,
of learning to live with what you have got.
Work it all out and store it neatly away,
So you can remain sane for just one more day.
