The Koolie Club of Australia is a not for profit organization that records, protects, breeds and promotes to like minded people, the oldest Australian breed of working dog, the Koolie. Sometimes known as Australian Koolie, German Koolie or Coolie. There are references in literature to Koolies back to the mid 1800’s – prior to 2000 this breed evolved on farm, with good dogs being bred to good dogs to produce good dogs without a structured breeding program. They are not recognized by mainstream dog breed ruling bodies, although they are accepted into their Sporting Registers. They have now been proven a distinct breed by DNA research.

The Koolie is an active, thinking breed that thrives on activity and mental stimulation. It is essential they receive this and not be subject to Monday to Friday backyard dwelling. They are excelling at dog sports, although tire of repetitive basic training they can quickly gain high levels in obedience, enjoy agility, tracking and are being used in rescue and bomb sniffing with great success.
