Artist's Description

Wild horses of Namibia at dusk. These are the wild horses of the Namib (desert) who have found a way of surviving in some very tough country indeed. Their origins are disputed but one theory is that a core may have come from the south african army, the german colonial forces and a n abandoned stud. They have been at least 100 years in this area. The area was ‘restricted’ because of diamond mining interests and is now part of the Namib Naukluft Park. It is likely that the restricted area status protected the horses since they were left alone. It was certainly wonderful waiting for them to come through kicking up dust as the sun set until I was surrounded by them.
