Artist's Description

I never noticed these beautiful flowers until today!

The Blingbling fruit is a very very rare fruit – you cannot find them in the supermarkets or the malls or whatever food markets we have. Perhaps in the wet market these blingbling fruits MAY be found if you know where to get them.

The blingbling fruit has the texture of the jambu (also called water apple, wax apple, mountain apple, bell fruit…) but it’s size is smaller; a skinner jambu that is light green in colour.

People sometimes cook it – especially in the Peranakan culture.

The Peranakan culture is a unique but dying culture in singapore – referring to the group of people – where the Chinese man married the ‘local’ malay girls (when they first came to singapore in search of a better life, many Chinamen decided to stay on, and they also decided[when their families did not send their brides over] to marry the girls here.)
