trees

I wonder, while we find joy in watching the changing colors of the trees, if we ever realize we are watching death.
Trees, I’ve watched this tree cling to its last vestige of life, felt Fall rip its last silent breath off its branches. No matter how strong. These trees, so clearly do they show us the cycle of life. So clearly as they drift off to rest, to endure the cold harsh storms ahead.

Never so much have I envied trees.

What I would give for just some rest. For just some peace. To sleep through the storms that ravage me. To quietly wait for calmer skies. And wake to feel the earth holding me, the sun hugging me, the taste of life on my lips…
