Artist's Description

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon was filmed at this village. The village dates back to the Ming Dynasty and in 2000 was added as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Much of the detail inside the buildings was preserved during the Cultural Revolution by the villagers who covered the work with plaster and mud. There was some damage when the plaster was removed, but not nearly as much as would have happened otherwise.
This architecture is typical to Anhui Province with high, white walls and grey or black roofs.
