Artist's Description

There are 37 different species of falcons. The peregrine is the fastest in the world, diving @ 180 mph. (A sky diver can only dive up to 150.) Falcons eat small birds, ducks, and bats.

While the Peregrine is the most widely distributed falcon in the world, inhabiting every continent except Antarctica, the Lanner is the larger of the two.

A pair will mate for life and breed in the same territory every year. The chicks, called eyases, are voracious eaters, doubling their weight in 6 days, while attaining 10 times their birth size at 3 weeks.
