Heartstrings

Heart and mind a blur,
thoughts seem to overflow.
Gushing from my eyes,
I no longer see,

I no longer care.

Toes and fingers are numb,
breath escapes me,
life escapes me,
I can’t tell left from right,
up from down,
wrong from right,
love from fright.

Walking backwards to see what I did wrong,
can’t find a thing,
my heartstrings are cut.
Losing the trail,
I sit still,

and watch.

Overflowing with jealously,
slowly fading into hate.
I can’t hate the ones I love,
I wonder how much is fate.
Tears are flowing faster,
I’m drowning,
I can’t find myself.

Heart and mind a blur,
thoughts seem to swallow me whole.
Gushing from my eyes,
I no longer see,

I no longer care.

Day by day,
I’m no longer me.
Where has my heart gone?

Where did you go?

Artist's Description

The reason behind this poem is sort of corny, but true. I was in love with someone, and they couldn’t leave the person they were with after they found out when they loved me too. They couldn’t hurt them.
I had to be happy for them.
I had to try to keep my cool because he was my love, and she was my friend.
Eventually he did leave her for me and we are still together.
“If you love something, let it go. If it comes back it’s yours forever, if not it was never meant to be.” -Unknown
