Weeping Willow (Salix × sepulcralis Hort.) is derived from hybridization between the Chinese Peking Willow and the European White Willow.
Frequently planted in graveyards, (sepulchrum = 1 : a place of burial, tomb 2 : a receptacle for religious relics especially in an altar hence the scientific species name of one of the progenitors.)
When my sister passed away my friends Sue could not physically come to the funeral. The tree was drawn in memoriam for her. The tree is weeping for her but also it represents her life. I will always be grateful for the picture and the love Sue put into the drawing.
