Artist's Description

Also known as Common Millet, Broom Corn, Hog millet or White Millet.
Hybridogenic origin appearing as a crop in both Transcaucasia and China about 7000 years ago. Still extensively cultivated in India, Russia, the Middle East, Turkey and Romania.
In the United States proso is mainly grown for birdseed and as health food because its seeds are lacking gluten, consequently can be included in the diets of people who cannot tolerate wheat flour.
