Artist's Description

The English or Pot Marigold was used in ancient Greek, Roman, Arabic and Indian cultures for medicinal purposes and dyeing fabrics, foods and cosmetics.

Leaves may be used in salads; petals may be added to dishes as a garnish and in lieu of the much more expensive saffron. Promotes the healing of minor burns, scrapes and skin irritations, hot Calendula petals tea helps soothe ulcers.

Original has been sold to a private collector.
