Fruiting bodies are produced singly or in groups of two or three specimens in hardwood forests, predominantly under oaks, from summer to autumn, following heavy rainfall periods.
Most common in Europe and North America. Widely exported to countries where, like in Australia Boletus edulis does no occur in nature.
