Artist's Description

As this piece seems to be a bit confusing I’ve added a few words of explanation.
Of course this could make it worse :)

Esoterically the rosebud represents innocence & purity.
It contains all the passion of the rose, as yet unbloomed.
This form of beauty is often subject to much protection, restraint & predation.

This rosebud is guarded by an unlikely alliance of predators.
The chain of predation / protection is a spiral rather than a circle.
The cat watches the crow, the crow watches the snail, the snail watches the rosebud.
One movement & the spiral would be activated, war would result, would she be safe?

The rosebud waits in her chamber unaware of the spiral of chaos waiting outside.
When she is ready, she will cast off her chain & emerge glorious & radiant.
Her guardians forgotten, her beauty liberated, she will open herself to the heavens & embrace the eternal.

In this spiral of danger / protection, the most is the least & the least the most.
